The coast offshore of Nosara has some of the best fishing in Costa Rica. One of the reasons the Nosara area is so good for fishing is due to the 100 fathom ledge bending in towards the beach. This bend in the 100 fathom curve brings the blue water and its species of fish very close to the beach. This large curve in the 100 fathom ledge tends to hold the blue water species of fish in the Nosara area for the greater part of the year.
This close proximity to the blue water in the Nosara area makes your travel time shorter and therefore your cost of your fishing less expensive. In addition, to the blue water being extremely close to the beach, this fertile fishing ground has little commercial pressure plus the prevailing currents brings lots of baitfish to the area.
Generally speaking, most of the sport fishing boats out of Los Suenos are making the 50 mile plus run to the north and the sport fishing boats out of Flamingo and Tamarindo are traveling 40 miles plus south to get to the Nosara area.
